Presentation Control Server Setup and Usage Guide

Introduction

Welcome to the Presentation Control Server! This guide will walk you through setting up and using the server to control presentations on your Windows PC using the Presentation Control app on your Android device. Just follow the steps below to get started.


Step 1: Downloading and Installing Presentation Control Server

Download the Server:

  1. Go to the Microsoft Store on your PC and search for Presentation Control Server.

  2. Click Install to download and install the server on your computer.

Launching the Server:

  1. Once installed, open the Presentation Control Server.

  2. The server will automatically check your network settings and ensure that it is configured to connect via Wi-Fi with your mobile device.

Firewall and Network Settings:

  1. The server will check Microsoft Defender settings for both public and private networks.

  2. If your network is set to public, you might see a prompt asking you to switch to a private network to allow connections. Follow the instructions if prompted.


Step 2: Connecting the Presentation Control App to the Server

Download the Remote App:

  1. On your Android device, go to Google Play and search for Presentation Control.

  2. Install the app on your Android device.

Connecting via Wi-Fi:

  1. Ensure that your PC (with the Presentation Control Server installed) and your Android device are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.

  2. Open the Presentation Control app on your Android device.

  3. The app will automatically search for available servers on the network.

Select the Server:

  1. Once the Presentation Control Server is detected, it will appear in the app’s server list.

  2. Tap on the server to connect.

  3. You are now connected and can control your presentations directly from your Android device!


Step 3: Using the Remote to Control Presentations

Slide Controls:

  1. Once connected, you can use the app to control the presentation on your PC, including:

    • Moving forward or backward through slides.

    • Controlling the volume of the presentation (if applicable).

  2. The interface is intuitive, allowing you to control your presentation effortlessly from your Android device.

Start and Stop the Server:

  1. You can start or stop the Presentation Control Server directly from the server interface on your PC.

Disconnecting:

  1. To disconnect, simply close the connection in the app or exit the Presentation Control Server on your PC.


Troubleshooting

Server Not Appearing in Remote App:

  1. Ensure both the PC and Android device are on the same Wi-Fi network.

  2. Check if the server is running and properly connected to the network.

Connection Issues:

  1. Make sure your firewall settings allow communication on the required port (check for any prompts regarding network settings).

  2. Try restarting both the Presentation Control Server and the Presentation Control app if the connection is unsuccessful.
