
Media Control Server Setup and Usage Guide
Introduction
Welcome to the Media Control Server! This guide will help you set up and use the server to control media on your PC using the Media Control Remote app on your Android device. Just follow the steps below to get started.
Step 1: Downloading and Installing Media Control Server
Download the Server:
- Go to the Microsoft Store on your PC and search for Media Control Server.
- Click Install to download and install the server on your computer.
Launching the Server:
- Once installed, open the Media Control Server. The server will automatically check your network settings and ensure that it is configured to connect via Wi-Fi with your mobile device.
Firewall and Network Settings:
- The server will check Microsoft Defender’s settings for both public and private networks.
- If your network is set to public, you might see a prompt asking you to switch to a private network to allow connections. Follow the instructions if prompted.
Step 2: Connecting the Media Control Remote App to the Server
Download the Remote App:
- On your Android device, go to Google Play and search for Media Control Remote.
- Install the app on your Android device.
Connecting via Wi-Fi:
- Ensure your PC (with the server installed) and your Android device are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
- Open the Media Control Remote app on your Android device.
- The app will automatically search for available servers on the network.
Select the Server:
- Once the Media Control Server is detected, it will appear in the app’s server list. Tap on the server to connect.
- You will now be able to control media on your PC directly from your Android device!
Step 3: Using the Remote to Control Media
Media Controls:
- Once connected, you can use the app to control media playback on your PC, including play, pause, volume control, and more.
- The interface is simple and intuitive, making it easy to control your media from your Android device.
Start and Stop the Server:
- You can start or stop the server directly from the server interface on your PC.
Disconnecting:
- To disconnect, simply close the connection in the app or exit the Media Control Server on your PC.
Troubleshooting
Server Not Appearing in Remote App:
- Ensure both the PC and Android device are on the same Wi-Fi network.
- Check if the server is running and properly connected to the network.
Connection Issues:
- Make sure your firewall settings allow communication on the required port (1978).
- Try restarting both the server and the remote app if the connection is unsuccessful.
